New House, County Galway, Ireland:
The design concept comprises two linear solid monopitch roofed elements, enclosing a central lightweight timber framed and glazed flat roofed element. The external appearance to the public realm appears similar and was inspired by traditional Irish white rendered longhouses. To the private realm the house presents a far more modern timber and glass appearance.
The brief was extensive and included, a galleried summer living room, a snug winter living room, library, study, computer room inglenook fireplace, kitchen, utility room, pantry, pet area, mud room, four double bedrooms each with en-suite, together with sauna/steam room, jacuzzi, ironing room, sundeck, stores and a double garage.
